Is It Fair To Pick a Favourite Child?

Is It Fair To Pick a Favourite Child?

Where It Started (Today)

A spur of the moment decision saw me heading out with my family this afternoon – I’d done a little work over the weekend, so felt ahead of myself, and wanted to spend some time with the family.

Off we went to the local shops – two pairs of socks, long john thermals and three coats – I was ready… :)

It was then I noticed something…

The first stop was the book shop… surrounding my kids with books can only be a good thing, and Katie my two year old started picking out her favourite: “It’s Peppa Pig Daddy!!”, and sat cross legged on the floor (in the middle of the shop) to start to read.

So far so good.

But it was when we started to go to the other shops my patience started to wane thin…

- The Clothes shop – and Katie was trying to dance with the baby mannequins (by first taking them off the displays they were part of)

- The Chemist – Katie again walking around taking anything off the shelf that looked shiny, or possibly able to easily drop and smash (how she pick’s ‘em so easily, I don’t know)

- (That repeated in the second Chemist we went in until I created an imaginary island 3 foot away from the closest shelf that we had to all huddle on together)

- Lastly was the Supermarket – by that time I’d had enough of being bottom-shelf policeman, and as my wife put her in the trolley with a few items we’d picked up along the way, I walked off to play with the phones in the phone department

And Then Was Decision Time…

It’s was probably the lack of caffeine my side, but my threshold had been battered by my marauding two year old.

how to pick a perfect client

time to pick the perfect one?

It was then I turned and looked at her four year old sister and thought to myself:

“Did you used to do that when you were two?”
“No, I don’t think you did”
“Does that mean you’re my new favourite daughter?”
“Is it even right to have a favourite?”

…and then I switched my mind back to work, to help me rebuild my reserviour of most things and realised how this related…

…how I’d had a 15 minute chat with a prospect earlier in the same day who’d followed an entire marketing campaign I’d designed, with the single intention to attract a perfect type of client.

He’d worked through the “Awesome Automation Experience” that I crafted inside of

The Awesome Prospect Picking Tool

I designed it specifically for those who are struggling to free themselves up from the day to day grind, and if they see a sample of what Technology can do (with the right levels of Marketing woven in), they should get very excited by the potential…

And it had worked.

To a “T”.

He had the right mindset, he ‘got it’ in terms of mixing Marketing and Technology together to leverage himself to grow his company to two, possibly even three times its size.

And the excitement we both had talking about how his business could grow…

…the next meeting was scheduled, and I’m looking forward to helping him tweak his business so he can leverage himself massively.

But how does this related to picking which of my daughters gets my car in my will?

So Can I Pick a Favourite Child?

Thinking about it a little more, you probably can’t have a favourite child: It wouldn’t be fair for the 10 month old who was asleep at home minding her own business.

But you can have a favourite type of client.

You can design your business and your marketing to attract and then work with only those you really enjoy to work with.

Where you can be yourself.

Share part of you with those who are interested in what you have to offer, knowing that those who related will look forward to talking to you – will want the same things for themselves as you want for them too.

And getting all of that when just be yourself. No one else.

Do you agree?

Actually, I’ll make that a rhetorical question: You wouldn’t be reading this far with me if you didn’t, would you?

But do you know “How”?

Here’s The “How To”

If no – did you know that’s what I’ve packaged up in a step-by-step as part of The Solo Journey?
